FoodDrinkEurope was honoured to have European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan, endorsing “Small Scale, Big Impact” from its start, in November 2016, when he delivered the keynote remarks at the launch event. Commissioner Hogan also signed the foreword of the “Small Scale, Big Impact” White Paper, welcoming the evolvement of the initiative and the number of SMEs involved, allowing the EU institutions to have an ever broader view of their needs, wishes and accomplishments and help them develop relevant policies to support what is still the backbone of the European economy.

In the second phase of the “Small Scale, Big Impact” project, thanks to the campaign “Tag an SME”, FoodDrinkEurope reached out to Members of the European Parliament who had been keen to promote food and drink enterprises from their constituencies, notably by showcasing their know-how and talent.

The following MEPs responded to our call by nominating SMEs from their regions: Franc Bogovič (SL, EPP), Biljana Borzan (HR, S&D), Nicola Caputo (IT, S&D), Daniel Dalton (UK, ECR), Esther Herranz García (ES, EPP), Julie Girling (UK, ECR), Anneli Jäätteenmäki (FI, ALDE), Eva Kaili (EL, S&D), Kaja Kallas (EE, ALDE), Artis Pabriks (LV, EPP), Paul Rübig (AT, EPP), Renate Sommer (DE, EPP), Tom Vandenkendelaere (BE, EPP).
